Well At Least Part of That Was a Surprise.

I’m not going to beat around the bush here.  If you haven’t watched last night’s American Idol and you don;t want to know the results then STOP READING NOW!

The bottom three last night consisted of Matt Giraud, Kris Allen, and wait for it… Adam Lambert.  It was Adam’s first time in the bottom three and I think he was shocked.  He looked really surprised when Ryan told Kris to take a seat and Adam realized he was in the bottom two.  Of course Adam didn’t go home, Matt did, just as I predicted.  No real shocker there.  Matt should have gone home each of the last two weeks.IDOLFIX_SU_C_^_ARTISTS

I think the fact that Adam was in the bottom two really is a game changer.  I think the general consensus was that Adam was safe no matter what, and that there was no way he wasn’t going to be in the final.  Now, I don’t know.  I think the fact that Allison, Kris , and Danny all got more votes than he did no longer guarantees anything for Adam.

I’ve made no bones about the fact that I think he’s over-rated.  He appeals to one demographic, albeit a very large one in terms of American Idol voters, and as David Archuleta proved last season that’s not enough to win.  I’m still not ready to count Adam out of this thing, and he just might have the ability win it all, but last night proved that nothing is certain in this contest.
